Towards the end of 2023 Drew was commissioned to create a series of new hand shadow animals and images to be the basis for the artwork on the New York Times's podcast series entitled "Animal". The main image (left) is a screen grab from one of Drew's most popular videos on YouTube which can be viewed here. The rest of the images were specially created - including some unusual animals such as a manatee, a puffin and a ferret. The podcasts are available to listen to here.

Drew Colby is attempting to break the existing world record for the largest projected shadow by projecting a hand shadow onto the largest cinema screen in Britain.
In order to break the largest projected shadow record he has to make a shadow measuring more than 16m x 9m, for which purpose he is aiming to project onto the IMAX cinema screen in London (UK) which measures 19.8 metres high by 25.9 metres wide. The cost to hire the cinema is £2000.00 (plus VAT) for one hour.
He started a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds towards the hire cost. The target amount has now been reached! Watch this space for details of the event date, time and online live streaming details.
